PUtting this back on the shelf. I just couldn't get into it after about half the book. It just drags on and on
Would have been a five if there were even more amazing content, but then again, this is Ozzy's brain dump. I'm surprised we got this many pages! Definitely a recommended read.
Really good. I think I enjoyed it even more after reading the mindf&$k that was "The Illuminatus Trilogy" (which I really liked).
I would've given 3.5 stars, but it's not possible on Goodreads. A good "filler" for the story, but I disliked how Card is going to have to change future editions of the book.
I'm not sure why I understand this to be considered a classic. I've held off on reading Banks for a number of years, and I don't really see myself going back after reading this novel. I found it dragging, wandering, and an overall meaningless conclusion with characters that didn't matter to the story.
Excellent. Fell off a bit from "Daemon", but still a great story with (I believe) some loose ends that may get resolved in "Darknet" coming out in 2011
A wonderful, detailed, page-turning techno-thriller. I was unable to put this down, and can't wait to get my hands on the sequel.
Not too bad for an adventure-type novel. I guiltily enjoyed it and might look at some of Preston's other books.
A decent work by Mr. Baxter, but I had trouble connecting the on- and off-world stories to each other. Both stories could've been good novels on their own, but combining them didn't seem to work for me.
I like the noir/detective aspect of this novel, but at times I felt that Chabon was reaching too far to get his point across. Other times it felt as though the story wasn't really moving forward but for the sake of introducing more character elements.
